A lunar day is the equivalent of 2 months on Earth. When the sun is shining on the moon's south pole, craters that are usually in complete darkness will be dimly lit, in a game of light and shadow. The photos show you the vase from different angles. The glaze seems to have a gradient, from light blue to yellow. As you turn and move the vase over time, you will discover new craters.
"The sun shining on the lunar South Pole" is unique and was built by hand, without a wheel, over the course of a few days. Once it survived the first firing at 960C, I glazed with my lava glaze.
Another two days in the kiln, reaching 1240C, and the minerals in the glaze melted and fused with the clay to create this unique beauty.
The vase is functional and measures around 20cm in height and 10cm in diameter.
All the glazes are formulated and made by me.
